What's On The Table? An Update
Things have been rather quiet on the blog of late for various reasons - although a lack of painting and gaming isn't one of them. I've just been doing lots of little side projects and games that have meant I haven't got my main projects through to completion and presentable to the blogosphere.
I thought I'd change all that with a 'warts and all' look at my painting table and what I'm up to. I've recently found a fellow wargamer at work, with whom I've been playing a lot of Team Yankee games. This has opened me up to a whole new group of friends, and I've dipped back into commission painting to do their infantry for them. In fact, I'd say this year has already been my most productive ever. I've painted about 70 bases of Vietnam 15mm, 40 of WWI and 60 of Cold War stuff. Unfortunately, since it isn't mine I've never thought to photograph or blog about it - so let's change that.
There you are - proof that I haven't been entirely idle of late. So, as you can see, I've even been dipping my toe back into 40K after a very long break.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Ed

The Desk, as it stands. Lots of half-finished projects to do! |
These are 15mm Team Yankee British infantry, and painting DPM was really hard! Might well do a tutorial on this later on. |
And more reinforcements for my Polish Army. |
These are two 28mm figures I've painted up, as display pieces for our American Civil War and British Civil War supercampaigns respectively. Just for fun. |
A nice little side project, using Victoria Lamb conversion pieces. These are a small part of the reboot for my trusty Palladian Guard army from years ago. |
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Ed
Kool beans. Lovin' DPM in 15mm. Adding masochism to you long list of interests.... Esp lovin' the nu-palladians; lookin' forward to the blue devil huntin' 'em down.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate. Yes, it's been a busy year... I'll have to get a move on with these Palladians then!
DeleteLovely work, man! I'm impressed with the detail you're getting on the 15mm models, and the VL troops look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! 15mm is a new challenge for me, but I really like the pace I can turn them out compared to 28mm.
DeletePalladian reboot. *Jaw hits the floor*.
ReplyDeleteIt's all very well done mate. I too like those Vic bits.
Will the old army be retired?
Aha, let that slip there! The old army will still be valid, but that always represented the full dress Palladians - I want to do a combat dress version, hence the Cadian lookalikes.
DeleteAlways nice to see the little bits that you are working on.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Pete.
Thanks a lot Pete, that's much appreciated. I'm doing another update to the Palladians soon, so should have a bit more detail for you then.
DeletePalladian Reboot!!?? O_o Wow, never thought that would happen, but am happy to see it happen. Vic Lamb sculpts are bloody good and her range of figs is way more extensive now so am sure you’ve got some really cool stuff to show off coming up. I like the touch of the Roman shield, nice shoutout.
ReplyDeleteCommission painting sucks my soul dry…. Yer a better man than me Ed. Still, some lovely looking bases – especially those Brits, so yes a tutorial is required.
Thanks mate - yes, nothing too drastic just a total rewrite of the fluff! It's really an excuse to use some more VL sculpts.
DeleteI say commission painting, it's mainly for friends with whom I game, so I'm really painting for myself...
