Looted Punisher Tank

Quick update today - recently me and Coldsteel Dan agreed to do an exchange project.  He put together some elite Guardsmen (post and fluff to follow), while I did a Leman Russ Punisher for him. In a cruel twist, we thought it would be good to do it in Palladian colours, with a few slogans and extra wear and tear on it.

The Breakers are an oppressed mining community on the Palladian moon of Edethor Luna, and they're not really 'chaotic', just anti-Imperial. So I thought it would be a bit trite to just cover it with Chaos symbols. It was fun to build; never done a Punisher before and it's been a while since I've done any Guard tanks. Keep an eye on Coldsteel's blog for its first outing against its erstwhile owners!

Pleased with the text; it's probably the smallest I've tried
Using too much paint around the joints makes it contract as it dries, making these
worn paint effects that can then be augmented with FW rust powders

Thanks for reading chaps,

Ed

  1. Nice one Colonel - I quite liked the Punisher kit when it first came out (not the missing accessory sprue mind - why they decided to drop the treat guards is anyones guess) - I managed to kit bash it with some older Russes I had so I got a Punisher and Executioner out of the kit.

The free hand has turned out well - its not a huge space you had to work with and its come up neat and legible - good one.

I think my favourite bit is the defaced Aquila - doesn't scream Chaos, but it does add that anti-imperium vibe.

    1. Thanks - yes the lack of track guards is a real bummer. If it's a common option in the list it should be in the kit.

Freehand is one of those things I didn't try for ages for fear of screwing up a model - and the first time I did try, that's exactly what happened. But practice works very quickly.

Ah yes, I wanted to steer clear of the cliched daubings and icons, something a little mor subtle and realistic. Thanks for the comment.

    1. My rust has come on leaps and bounds (odd phrase) since I invested in proper weathering powders.

    1. Thanks! That seems to have gone down well, it's probably its best distinguishing mark on the battlefield that tells me it's not one of mine...

  5. Yes it has been a while since we've seen a new guard tank from you.

Cracking result mate. Looking forward to those vets.

  7. Looking bloody superb sir. Liking the eagle, looks even better than I imagined when I suggested it. How did you do the molten welded effect in the end?
