WWI Russians

Hello again - been a bit of a quiet week really, but I've been plodding on with my WWI Russians from Musketeer Miniatures - tutorial post here.  I've really had fun painting these chaps, experimenting with a few different techniques.  I haven't tried any of the new Painting Faces methods you chaps so generously shared yet, just for consistency's sake.

Now I have some Russians, there are Renegade Miniatures Germans coming soon.  Once that's done, I'll probably get a few Highlanders to complete my armies, then we'll be ready to playtest the WWI rules - post to follow next week!  Anyway - enjoy the piccies.

Bперед!

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned :)

  1. Excellent stuff; if you've Brits and Russkies there was an article in Wargames Illustrated* recently about the mini BEF Churchill had sent to Russia to fight the Bolsheviks at the close of WW1 - might be worth a look. If you can't find it somewhere, let me know and I'll pop it in the post.

*Other wargaming magazines are available, but might not have any worthwhile content....

    1. Thanks a lot mate - aha, yes I've espied that one. Good article, and WI has plenty of great trench maps and systems splashed across the pages to inspire.

  3. Utterly superb, I shall refrain from the more coarse language which better describes how good these are. Frenchies and Ostriches have landed so blog post/review shortly...

Brits and Ruskies shall be good for a few RCW "what-ifs?" in Archangelsk...

    1. Glad you liked 'em Fran - I googled a shortlist of potential WW1 and RCW minis and these came out on top, but I hadn't heard of them before either.

    1. Apparently different Russian regiments have different permitted moustache styles, but since this is a random provincial infantry unit I decided against sculpting a unified upper lip theme :)
